Sept. 15 meeting, cookies are coming, and a calendar of events

I hope everyone has settled into the new school year and is ready to get back to Guiding! A few key dates have been pinned down in the past few days; please find a calendar of events below. Please note that events that do not fall on meeting nights are optional. We would still love to see as many Guides as possible come out for the events though!

Thurs. Sept. 15: This week the meeting will be in/near the pavilion in Four Seasons Park and will run from 6:15pm to 8pm. If the weather forecast is bad, we will have the meeting at Jen’s house. I will send an email out on Wednesday next week to confirm our location.
  • Please bring completed H1 forms, uniform (if possible), dues (either pay ahead or weekly as noted in my previous email), and a water bottle. Bug spray might also be a good idea.
  • Guide Store order:  If you need to order something from the Guide store and would like to take part in a group order, please email Jen with what you need (sizes, etc. as well) before this meeting.
Thurs. Sept. 22: COOKIES are here! Tonight we are going to do door-to-door cookie sales. Please meet at 6:15pm at 822 Covehead Cres., and we will sell on nearby streets.  Pick-up will be 8pm. This is a rain or shine event.
  • In addition to selling, we would ask parents to each take a case for their Guide to sell on their own that evening. Cases are $60 each and include 12 boxes.  Please make cheques for the cases out to Girl Guides of Canada. *If your Guide is interested in taking more than one case to sell, please see Lisa.
  • Also, it would be great if we had an extra parent or two walk with us that evening. If you are interested, please let Jen know.
Thurs. Sept. 29: Tonight we will be working on the You and Guiding program area – lots of games, a bit of a discussion and a craft. We will meet at Canyon Walk Daycare from this point onward, and the meeting will run from 6:30pm to 8:15pm. Please remember to bring indoor shoes!
Thurs. Oct. 6: Tonight we will be working on the peace badge with activities related to the International Day of Peace.
Thurs. Oct. 13: Tonight we will work on parts of our travel badge and log some community service time making sandwiches for the city’s homeless.
Sat. Oct. 15: City bus trip to Parliament Hill for a scavenger hunt! Details to follow.
Wed. Oct. 19: Community Guiding Campfire in Barrhaven, 6:15pm to 7:30pm at Mont Sir Paul Baxter.
Fri. to Sun. Dec. 2-4: CAMP WOOLSEY! Details to follow.
That’s it for now. As always, please feel free to email me with questions.
Guider Jen
