We will be posting more about the Lady Baden Powell Challenge - the highest award that Girl Guides can earn - over the next few weeks. Some of the work will be done in our unit, but Guides wishing to complete this challenge will need to do independent work as well.
In addition to the link on the right to a program booklet about the Challenge, please find some ideas for various independent requirements below. More information is also provided in the Girl Guide handbook.
Some Suggestions for Lady Baden Powell Award Service Projects
Activity #3 – Project to help your Guide Unit
- Maintain the patrol boxes for your unit
- Make a book of favourite campfire songs
- Create a game or activity to teach the rest of your unit something about Guiding (such as a game on how to remember the Laws)
- Assemble a book of games that the unit enjoys playing
- Develop a Memory Book for the unit (be sure to include photos of your favourite activities)
- Book Drive for a local school/daycare centre
- Making Baby Bundles for new moms
- Gift wrapping at a seniors home
- Making scarves/toques for homeless shelter
- Manning a Guiding PR booth at a community activity (Canada Day, Winterlude...Leaders receive requests for aid and can forward along information if there is interest)
- Create an activity booklet for brownies or sparks to teach them a skill (such as fire safety)
- Making emergency preparedness kits for those in need of them (work with the Provincial Emergency Program or Fire Dept)
- Expand on other Community Service activities your Unit works on
