Hi
Families,
Just
a reminder that this week is our Halloween Party! The festivities start at 6:30
and girls are welcome to wear their costumes.
November
is shaping up to be a busy month! Here is what’s coming up:
November
6 – Remembrance Day meeting. We’ll be making Valentines for Vets and
talking about the importance of Remembrance Day. Also of note: Guides are
invited to wear their Guiding Uniforms to school on Remembrance Day.
November
13 – Creative Craft night. Tonight we’ll be finishing off the Creative
Craft badge. More weaving, bracelet making, a clay project, and whatever else
Jen can come up with!
November
20 – Community Service Night. Tonight we will be making scarves out of
polar fleece blankets to donate to Shepherds of Good Hope. We will also be
doing a food drive. A speaker will also talk to the Guides about the good work
the Shepherds of Good Hope does in our community. ** We would love a couple
of parent volunteers for this event, willing to bring a good pair of fabric
scissors, a measuring tape/stick and seamstress pins to help the girls with the
scarves. If you are interest in joining us, please let Jen know.
November
27 – International Day of the Girl (IDG) Challenge. We were planning to do
this in October to celebrate the International Day of the Girl, but time
slipped away on us! IDG is an opportunity to bring global focus to girls’
rights, the challenges that girls face in their everyday lives and to empower
girls to make a positive difference in the world.
Other
key dates
December
5: Les Petits Ballet for those Guides who signed up.
December
6: Manotick Christmas Parade – meet at noon (time TBC) and join us on the Girl
Guide float! (riding on the float will be optional, more details to follow)
That’s
all for now. Happy Halloween!
